Hospice Policy Update: HOSPICE Act Provisions & Alternative Sanctions

being brought to you in partnership with the
Home Care and Hospice Webinar Network

The Consolidated Appropriations Act was jam-packed with over 5,000 pages including measures addressed to the hospice industry. One of those provisions was the Helping Our Senior Population in Comfort Environments (HOSPICE) Act. The HOSPICE Act is a response to an OIG report that called for more stringent hospice oversight. This act addresses hospice survey enforcement and intends to bring hospice survey into alignment with the other survey processes. It addresses survey frequency, team composition, surveyor training, and other aspects of survey enforcement. The biggest change is the addition of authority for alternative sanctions. This webinar will review the provisions of the HOSPICE Act. It will also look at the impact of alternate sanctions in the home health industry and skilled-nursing facilities to identify potential impacts on hospice and preparation strategies for the future.
