Becoming Anti-Ageist Together To Build An Age-Positive Maine
Presented by Don Harden, Maine Council on Aging

Most Mainers are living longer, healthier, more productive lives than ever before, but our personal and systemic narratives about aging really haven’t kept pace. From the language we use, to the way we plan our communities and design our systems, we need to be more intentional about seeing our own age-bias and understanding it impacts our friends, family, co-workers and consumers, our work environment, and even our systems. The good news is, once we understand our own age-bias, we’re much less likely to act on it. This presentation will look at how ageism impacts us, our health, and our economy, and begin to explore how to address ageism in our own organizations and systems of care.

Perinatal Hospice Pilot
Presented by
Leann Sebrey, Chief Clinical Officer, Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice

Over the last several years, the statistics have remained consistent in Maine that there are 5.7 stillbirths out of every 1000 live births, or 67-70 annually. Perinatal loss with unaddressed parental grief can lead to lifelong health consequences and suffering – ultimately effecting the health of our society. The goal of Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice's pilot is to provide perinatal hospice services when there is fetal demise at a gestational age of 20 weeks or more. Education, resources, and bereavement support are also provided following fetal death. This pilot works collaboratively between the high risk obstetrics and pediatric home health team and hospice, blending insights and expertise from both service lines.

There is no cost to participate in this LIVE event but registration is required.
